I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find just the right desk for my needs. I had a limited space and could accommodate no more than 5-6 feet square. An L-shaped desk seemed perfect for my needs, so I went to work looking into every possible combination. After a couple of weeks, I was disappointed that I didn't find anything that I thought would work. The desks either had too much desktop depth, hence minimizing the space I would have for my rather sizeable chair, or were too high in price to justify for my moderate work-from-home needs. Finally, after putting in some magic terms in my Amazon search, I found this desk. The price was incredible. I had trouble believing that I could get a quality desk in the sub-$200 space, let alone near $100 after a coupon. I put the desk in my cart to look at later, and kept finding myself considering if it would work well. At the price, I decided it was worth it to take the risk. I ordered on a Wednesday, and received it the following Wednesday.First, assembly. It...wasn't terrible. I've had my fair share of easier builds, but this wasn't overly complicated. You first construct the metal frame loosely, paying particular attention to how each piece is oriented and flipped (it DOES matter) and unfortunately the instructions were not perfect in this regard. If you have any common sense you'll be able to put it together without much issue. I had to remove and re-orient one leg after discovering I had flipped it around the wrong way, but it wasn't too tough. This would also be easier with 2 people, particularly because the center legs only touch the floor in the back -- if you're not careful or innovative in holding pieces up, it could be tough to put it all together. I had the entire frame assembled in less than half an hour. Putting the 3 top pieces atop the frame was painless and very quick. Once the tops were tightened, the entire frame was fully tightened. I had a working desk in much less than an hour, which is saying something given I had inquisitive kids constantly asking me how it was going.Sturdiness: This is what I found most surprising. The desk top was not noticeably thick or anything, but it really felt very strong and sturdy. It didn't have the bend or bounce of MDF (I think it's actually a 1/2 to 5/8" plywood), and as they were in 3 pieces and well supported on all the edges, I found the entire construction to be very strong. I briefly worried about drilling a hole for my dual monitor mount given the weight pressure that would be on that single point, but the mount was well constructed and had a support plate on the bottom that spread out the weight to a larger area. The table held just fine.Layout: I like the metal frame and "wood" top layout, as the small lip between the frame and top makes for a good place to channel wires. After routing my cables around the back top of the frame, I decided to reorganize and put a grommet in the top to route my cables under the desktop. Both configurations worked just fine. Part of me wishes the back corner of the desk extended fully square rather than having the 45-degree cut, but that was only specific to my layout. If anyone expects this desk to sit in the middle of an office, the cut will allow you to navigate your office more easily.I've had it for exactly one month as of today and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Regardless of the price (not just because of it), it's a well-designed and sturdy desk. I recommend this to anyone who is looking to get the most out of limited space and wants something that is easy to customize. This doesn't have any additional shelving or drawers so it really makes a blank slate to build upon. One more point -- there's a small computer sled that fits most computer towers. I found it utterly useless but was a nice additional touch that I'm sure could be of use. It is on plastic runners and they are affixed with short wood screws directly into the side of the board, which is the same material as the desk top. Because of the particle/plywood nature of the board, it's not the best hold, so I don't consider it to be immensely load-bearing. Use as you will.In all, I give this full stars and my heartiest positive feedback. I'm very pleased!
