We have our new 40" TV on this stand, and all of our AV units are stored underneath. This is an attractive unit, no doubt, but be aware that it is of particle board construction with only Cherry veneer overlay. The finish is nice, although a door came with a few scratches which are visible when you open it, but nothing that a touch-up pen won't handle. It came double-boxed and packed very well, but it had been dropped hard on one corner by UPS and still no obvious damage to anything that I can see. Assembly was easy enough for me, which took about 1 1/2 hours and really posed no problems. The directions were easy and logical, although they still suffered from a bit of "oriental language confusion" in the way things were explained. I consider myself a jack of all trades, skilled in woodworking and almost any other trade, so the assembly was fairly logical. I would caution the layman, however, as the connectors are a bit tricky to negotiate, and in the end the unit goes together OK but the overall strength and rigidity of the construction is just not up to par. In fact, if you're not really handy with tools, I would find someone who is to assemble the unit for you. Afterwards, I would strongly suggest NOT picking the assembled unit up by the top edges, as it may fall apart, and hopefully your floor is flat where it is to sit or the doors may not line up, due to a sagging sideways of the stand. This type of toggle and screw construction is notoriously flimsy, but if care is given in moving the assembled unit you should have no problems. I also noticed the center shelve is a bit flimsy, and is prone to sagging almost immediately when you put something like a AV receiver or satellite receiver on it. I shored mine up with a simple center stick support, and it is fine now and the stick really doesn't show, but still it's a sign of a poor design IMHO. In the end, this unit is very attractive and is fine for our use in the living room, but I think there are better options out there, especially for the money. I feel this unit will last for many years with proper care, and if we avoid moving it a lot over uneven floors or carpet. Time will tell, but we're happy for the time being.
