This thing is pretty good quality for the price, I think, but the manual’s assembly instructions are flawed on a key point. It says to tighten the nuts for the bolts that the spring assembly until 2 full centimeters (I believe) of the bolts are exposed on top of the plate. That’s way too much. A little less than half of that is more than enough if you want the bag to recoil and for the base not to rock a lot. This mistake in the assembly instructions made getting it working right more of a pain than it needed to be.Secondly, if you fill up the base with sand sufficient enough to keep the base from rocking a notable amount (which takes FOREVER), the thing weighs well over 225 pounds, I’d say. So it is a major hassle to move, and it is inarguably impossible to empty once you’ve filled it. I made that mistake and strained the bejesus out of my back as a result. Plus, the base still rocks some when I give it a whack anyway.Anyway, I purchased this for my daughter, who is about as girly a girl as one can imagine, but it was all she wanted. Well, she has it, for better or worse, and thinks it’s cool. It is in the garage of her mom’s house, and we have forestalled plans to get it up the stairs to her room. I put it together, sand included, at my house and just barely got it over there, screwing up my back in the process. Her brother and I might be able to get it upstairs at a later date, but I’d rather rent a daggone crane or set the thing on fire in the middle of the street. It is a quality unit, but the assembly instructions are flawed, and it lacks a bit of practicality in that you have to make it nearly immobile if you wish for it to operate properly while punching and kicking the thing. And the base still rocks even with 200 pounds of sand in the base. I think it is a good enough bag, and the gloves seem okay too, but I would not buy another one.
