I decided that I needed an umbrella stand when redecorating my home to replace the junky towel our umbrella sat on. It was an eyesore. After looking at several umbrella stands, I was very discouraged with the selection. Then I came across this one & gave it a try. Initially I was concerned with the wicker getting damaged from a wet umbrella as well as not being sturdy enough to not tip over. These concerns ended up being a non-issue. It's heavy enough that it doesn't fall over & we shake most of the water off the umbrella before storing it in the stand. There is also a plastic tray in the bottom to collect any leftover drips. We do live in Western WA & get a lot of rain. Even so, we have never had to empty out any water collected in the tray. I am very pleased with this stand & am glad I purchased it.
