I am a professional producer of still and motion commercials and was looking for a lightweight set up for portrait and interview shoots. Because of Covid restrictions, I needed a versatile indoor and outdoor fill light that can replicate sunlight during irregular weather in the Bay Area. At 80 watts, there is more than enough dial up brightness for outdoor fill and the lamp has a 180 degree rotation angle and an adjustable stand. This helps for two reasons. If your talent is taller in stature you can still reach high enough for Portrait Lighting or if you are shooting tabletop, you can even use this light as an interior key. GVM also sells diffusion, umbrella, cone and chimera style attachments. I was really blown away by the versatility of this lamp. Is it a Briese or ProFoto in its capability? No, but it’s also not $2k. Overall, I will order another product from GVM because these products fit my budget without compromising professional standards. The color adjustment is an added bonus which helps in determining color hue in post. Note: if you are shooting on location, you will need to tap into house power or use an AC adaptor from a stand-alone, dedicated battery. This light is not a huge power drain but be sure to insulate and elevate your wire runs for safety.
