This is WAY better than the description they use. I'm not a drummer but my daughter is and I got this for her to use standing, seeing as she is a marching snare drummer. I was unsure about the stand given the description being not so informative as to the exact greatness that is this stand. It's listed as a "medium weight" stand. I went to get it off my porch after it was delivered. I can tell you with a strong degree of certainty that this stand is stronger than a toddler who doesn't want their diaper changed. It's so heavy that I almost need a back brace just to carry it through the house. My next concern was, exactly how tall this would extend and could it actually be used standing. Now, I'm a little taller than a Smurf standing at 5'6" and my daughter is the same. Neither of us has the blue pigmentation of a Smurf but more of a pasty Casper glow, but that is beside the point. I've included a picture of this lovely "glow" along side the stand. I kid you not when I tell you that this thing is not fully extended and Paul Bunyon could easily rock out on this bad boy. Its so sturdy when fully extended, that you could probably do a keg stand on your practice pad for those of you college kids looking for a great deal, its multi purpose. As a mother though, I do not suggest that and think you should get back to studying. Long story short, this is an amazing stand , strong and sturdy and worth every penny. Side note: I bought the stick bag separately and just attached it to the stand
