I'd read all the reviews and decide that for my needs this lamp would fit the bill. As it comes with the umbrella and stand it's a complete package - you could, at a pinch, light someone with this single source and a reflector and produce nice results. It's well enough made - all plastic, so some care needs to be taken with handling and tightening of clamps etc. but if you look after it I see no reason why it won't last. It's perfect for occasional use, for a semi permanent setup or any situation where you can take a little time and don't need to beast your kit. The light it gives out is nice and soft (I've yet to try a soft box), the fan is acceptably quiet - can't hear it at typical light to mic distance - and overall it works well. If you're going to be lugging lamps round locations maybe this isn't for you, but if you're prepared to take a little care it's a veritable bargain.
