I'm not going to downgrade my rating on this console because of my nightmare Amazon deliver experience. However, I will relate it at the close of this review because some of it may bite you.I bought this console for a 60" Panasonic TV I planned to order (and, in fact, did shortly thereafter - the plan was to have the delivery folks place the 100+ pound TV on the stand for me). In hindsight, I should have spent more time probably searching locally for a unit because, after much delays in delivery, I did look at consoles at a local Best Buy and found a bigger selection than I expected and the prices on a couple of candidates were about the same price. However, I've stuck with the Walker Edison product and I'm not disappointed. One thing that attracted to me to it was all the storage it has. I've taken great advantage of the DVD storage on either end of the unit. The open shelf also is the perfect size for a center channel Polk speaker for my 5.1 system plus my Comcast DVR.The unit arrived in generally good shape except for one noticable nick. An advantage of this unit is since the finish is black I'll be able to touch up mars. When I was assembling it I was quite nervous because, frankly, the styling as I was putting it together looked very square-ish and unattractive. However, after I assembled it I have to admit it's nice looking. By design it's plain like Shaker furniture but I find it looks a cut above typical self-assembly furniture.I've assembled my share of furniture and this piece took longer to put together than most, if not all. Because of the delivery woes (it arrived 1 hour before my TV was scheduled to arrive) I tried to put it together in a mad rush and still I think it took 1 1/2 hours or more to assemble. It's not rocket science but there's just a lot more pieces than expected. The directions are pretty good but not great. I did get one piece in the back on backwards but you'd never notice since it's hidden so I didn't bother re-doing it.It's sturdy enough that my 60" plasma TV doesn't bow the top at all.Delivery was a nightmare. Most of the mess was UPS's fault (I really wish Amazon would use someone else because they struggle to deliver anything to me on time and I have a distribution center in my county). However, the lesson I think everyone can take from this is forget what delivery time Amazon gives you and add a day or two. Amazon fulfillment struggles get these units to ship.I ordered this like a week in advance of my TV so, as I said before, it'd get there before my TV. Long story short, the delivery status was a mess. Amazon's customer support informed me UPS lost it. I used my 2-day Prime but fulfillment couldn't even get it to the shipper in 2 business days. Customer support was very nice. I got a $30 credit and they promised me 1-day deliver. Of course, fulfillment again couldn't get it to the shipper in a timely mantter and I couldn't cancel it because Amazon customer service said it was sitting on their truck for like a day and a half. What a mess! The 2nd unit I ordered arrived the morning the TV was to arrive blowing completely my plans to have it assembled and the shippers put it on the stand. The 1st unit I ordered showed up a day later. To add insult to injury, the UPS delivery guy - I wasn't home personally to witness but who else could have done it? - broke a light along my sidewalk dragging it back to his truck. The bottom line? This is a nice unit but if you live near a Best Buy or similar store carrying consoles you'll probably do as well there. If you do order and need it by such-and-such date, allow a couple extra days.I ordered this unit for two reasons, I couldn't find the Ikea BESTÃ… unit I wanted locally and they don't ship it, and this unit looked fairly similar with similar dimensions. The finished product looks OK. It fits my new 60 inch Samsung television with soundbar very nicely. I like the open cavity for electronics without having anything in front to block them (no doors, glass, mesh, etc.). But that is about all the good I have to say about this piece. The unpacking of this thing left my entire apartment littered with these little white styrofoam balls that were shedding off the larger styrofoam. About two weeks and two cleanings later, I am still finding these little styrofoam bits floating around!Next was the construction. I am used to flat pack Ikea assembly with the cam bolt. But this seemed needlessly complicated in multiple areas, particularly around the double end cam bolt. It was a pain to get one side of the cam bolt in so that it would be the right length for the other side of the cam bolt to catch (why not just have a single side cam bolt that screwed in at one end?).I also received a panel that had been routed for the cam locks. But none of the bolt holes were drilled! I had to locate a drill and do it myself. This wasn't very difficult. Just very inconveniencing and ended up being time consuming. The finish of a lot of the panels is also pretty poor. A lot of the panels seem to have this type of build-up at one edge. It would almost seem like the panels were hanging when glued together or sprayed for color and then that glue built-up at the bottom of one edge. Some edges have considerable dings in them from shipping. But I don't really want to fault the company for something that could have happened in shipping. At the end of the day (yes, I ended up spending pretty much all day putting this thing together), it does look decent. The black makes it easy to touch of the flaws with a black marker. However, I would say that assembling a similar Ikea piece is much easier, less time consuming, similarly priced, and similar or even better quality. It would be hard for me to recommend this to a friend and I'd have to be madly in love with the piece to order something else from Walker Edison.
