I have wanted to shoot steel for a long time and bought this once I found a place in the country where I could shoot longer distance. The steel target gives a very satisfying "ping" and the angled design, along with the spring, relieves most concern about ricochets. The target held up well, even to some fairly hot steel core 7.62x54r rounds which will punch holes in fairly hard steel.Beyond that, the target was fairly easy to assemble. We did need a drill to put it together (to make some holes in the 2x4 used for mounting), but all the bolts could be hand tightened. It's cumbersome to carry longer distances once assembled, and does take a minute to break down since a few bolts have to be removed, but it is not so awkward that carrying it a few hundres yards is not possible, and it can still fit in a small car once you remove the 2x4.I found the concerns about ricochets damaging the legs to not be a concern. You do find lead dust all over the target and the legs, but the target taks off enough velocity (at least from what we were shooting) that the legs looked fine. What was a little problematic was people shooting low and hitting the 2x4 portion of the stand. Since beginner pistol shooters tend to push their shots low, this got hit fairly often. I definitely recommend bringing a spare 2x4 - we got lucky the stand held up even though it was ~50% skinnier in a few sections!
